Bio
Biography
Patrick Hoban was born in the suburbs of Philadelphia where he discovered his love of ceramics as a freshman in high school. From there, he went onto study ceramics and sculpture at Penn State University, where he received his BFA in Sculpture in 2015. In 2016, He received a full scholarship and assistantship to the University of Alabama. In spring of 2019 he graduated with his MFA in Ceramics. Currently, Patrick works as an intern for the Clay Studio of Missoula, is a Teaching artist at The Missoula Art Museum and a resident Potter at the Lake Missoula Tea Company.

2007 - 2011 Ceramics I - Honors Ceramics VIII at Malvern Preparatory School
2010 - Full Scholarship for a workshop at Penn Valley School of Craft with Chris Staley.
2011 - Full scholarship to a summer class at Moore College of Art.
2015 - Received my BFA in Sculpture from Pennsylvania State University
2016 - Full scholarship to University of Alabama to study my MFA in Ceramics
May 2019 - Received my MFA for Ceramics from The University of Alabama.

2007-2011 Member of the National Arts Honors Society
2007 - 2011 - Active artist participation in Empty Bowls as well as planning and hosting events at school
2007, 08, 09,10 and 2011 - Art exhibited in the Student art show at Malvern Prep.
2007 - Present Every Year I continue to donate bowls and cups to various empty bowls in Alabama and at Malvern Prep in Malvern, Pa.
2011 - Accepted into the NCECA K-12 exhibition.
2011 - Received a full scholarship to a workshop at Penn Valley School of Craft with Chris Staley
2011 - Accepted into the BFA Ceramic program at Penn State University
2012, 13, 14, 15 and 2016 - I Donated ceramic work for silent auctions at Empty Bowls to support The Bethesda Project in Philadelphia.
2015 - Received my BFA in Sculpture from Penn State
2015 - Accepted with a full scholarship and stipend into The University of Alabama as an MFA track in Ceramics.
2016 - Vice President of Crimson Clay Club at the University of Alabama.
2016-2018 - Helped promote Crimson Clay Club at the University of Alabama club fair each semester

Feb 2019 - My public art proposal for a sculptural bike rack was accepted by the city of Tuscaloosa and fully funded by the arts council of Tuscaloosa. It will permanently reside next to the government plaza in downtown Tuscaloosa, Al.
Apr 2019 - Permanent Public Art Piece: Installed a public art piece for the Monster Takeover project in Tuscaloosa. Built a squid in bronze.
Apr 2019 - Permanent Public Art Piece: Created a bronze sculpture for the Literary Capital Bronze Sculpture Trail in Monroeville, Al. It is a permanent bronze sculpture of a Jon Boat.
Apr 2019 - Solo show- MFA Thesis exhibition at Harrison Gallery in downtown Tuscaloosa, Al.
