I enjoy capturing the moment when humans and animals share the same field of perception, thus calling to mind our responsibility to show kindness and empathy toward all living species. Eye contact is a powerful moment when both beings recognize the other as well as perhaps realizing that they are now the subject of each other's perception. Through human actions, how do we want to be remembered through the eyes of nature?

Bio

Shawn is a classically trained artist who explores his subject matter by mining his sensorial experience with nature. Diverging his traditional sensibilities rooted in classical realism, Faust employs the vitality and physical application of color as the life-giving force to his paintings. His work emerges from his environmental relationships and stand as a testament to his ecological reverence. Collaborating his training in portraiture with his exploration in abstract expressionism, Faust seeks to harness the stamina of color and gesture to elucidate forms as metaphors and proxies for human and nature reciprocity. Faust is a founding member of the Portrait Society of America and a Signature member of the American Academy of Equine Art as well as an Associate member of OPA. His work hangs in the permanent collection of the National Museum of China, the National Museum of Horse Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga, NY and the Daughters of the American Revolution Museum in Washington, DC. Faust earned his MFA from the University of The Arts and a BFA from the University of Delaware.
