Ellen, an oil painter, was born in Philadelphia and currently resides in the Glasstown Arts District of Millville, New Jersey. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts cum laude from Temple University’s Tyler School of Art. Following graduation, she pursued a successful graphic design career in New York City that culminated with her assuming the position of V.P. of Creative for L’Oreal. Fueled by the desire to be “just an artist”, Ellen left New York in 2001 and opened Green Boots Studio & Gallery in Millville. Her plein air oil landscapes and equestrian paintings have been exhibited, awarded and collected throughout the United States and Europe. Over the years, she has pursued further study at the Scottsdale Artist School, the New York Museum of Natural History and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Ellen is a signature member of the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association. Her most recent awards include Plein Air Brandywine Valley, Artists’ Choice (2016 &15); Mt. Lebanon Plein Air, Pittsburgh, Best in Show (2014 and 2012); Easels in Frederick, Maryland, Best County Landscape (2014); Easton Plein Air Vasari Classic Artist Oil Color Award (2010); Noyes Museum of Art Plein Air Exhibition, First Place (2010); and Chestnut Hill Fall for the Arts, First Place Oils (2018). Ellen is also listed in Who’s Who in American Art from 2009 through the present edition.
