Michael Budden

MICHAEL BUDDEN
Known for years as an award winning wildlife artist, Mike has shifted his interest to painting landscapes, seascapes, and urban city scenes with a focus on capturing light and design. Using a more painterly approach, his subject matter ranges from his native state of New Jersey and eastern seaboard to the Rocky Mountains also with a focus on New York City . Inspiration comes mostly from observing and painting directly from nature whenever possible and an intense study of not only the deceased masters but of his contemporaries as well. His paintings can be found in many collections including three museums as well as the White House and his prints in hundreds of private collections.
Now painting as an artist truer to his inner spirit , Mike is again winning awards. He is a two time winner of the “Arthur T. Hill Memorial Award” for the Best Landscape, Salmagundi Club, NYC and the 2008 “Purchase Award” for his painting “Flatiron” , the 2009 & 2012 “Alden Bryan Memorial Award at the Annual Members Exhibition, the Club's Top Award . He has won awards in many of the other major shows held at the Club including Allied Artists, Audubon Artists, and most recently earning Fellow, Maxima Cum Laude from the American Artists Professional League. His paintings can be found through out the US in various venues and galleries.
